Minnesota has more "big" trees – greater than 19 inches in diameter – than it had 50 years ago.
Location: Plentiful throughout Minnesota, except in the western half. Most abundant in cold, moist locations and along banks of streams. (Also found in Lake States.)
Fun Facts: Similar to white ash but lighter, softer and weaker; most often nine leaves per stem
Uses: Barrels; furniture; shipping
Full Size: 40-70 feet in height, 1-2 feet in diameter
Age at Maturity: 90 years
