Location: Found throughout the northern part of Minnesota along streams and edges
of swamps or in other cool locations. (Also found in northern states east of Minnesota and throughout most of Canada.)
Fun Facts: Heavy when green, light when dry; soft, not very strong; close grained; light brown; large, conical-shaped bud
Uses: Pulp, boxes, packing cases and rough lumber
Full Size: 60-80 feet in height; 1-2 feet in diameter; fast growing, medium-size tree
Age at Maturity: 40 years
